Not class-specific - this is about which systems to prioritize while leveling any character in Season 14, so the tasks you actually spend time on are the ones that move the needle.
Equip your pet from the Wardrobe before leaving town - it picks up gold and materials automatically, which saves a surprising amount of backtracking over a full leveling session. Teleport to Temis and start a War Plan (the Lord of Hatred activity-chain system) early, aiming for a setup with strong Helltide timing. Grab your Mercenary while you're there too, and keep Merc Rapport ticking up rather than treating it as something to fix later. Then head to Zarbinzet and start the Season 14 questline so seasonal reputation is progressing in the background instead of being forgotten for an hour.
The core loop that actually moves your level fastest is Helltide density feeding Maggot XP globes: kill a Hellwyrm, it spawns Maggots, killing Maggots drops large XP globes that scale up with world difficulty. Unlocking the Writhe and Rot War Plan node is the point this really turns on. Season 14 Ruptures are also worth doing whenever they appear - strong density and seasonal progress at once. Early on, avoid Hellborn and Wyrms if your character still feels weak; dying twice trying to be brave at level 9 costs more time than it saves.
Start on Normal (Hard is fine if you already know your class). Move up to Hard around level 15 once your class bonus activates and your damage feels good - difficulty should only go up when your clear speed stays fast, not on a fixed schedule. The first Capstone Dungeon, Torrid Menagerie in Hawezar, is available around level 35 for extra skill points. Once you hit 70, do the second Capstone (Hellish Descent in Scosglen) to open the path toward Pit progression.
At 70, switch to Penitent if you're not already there, then clean up your character before pushing further: equip runes, gamble Obols, check vendors, craft a few level-70 pieces at the Blacksmith, and temper for elemental damage, life, and resistances. Keep farming Helltide worms until roughly Paragon 35-40 to rush your first Paragon Legendary node, which can meaningfully spike your damage. Clear a Pit 10 to unlock Torment 1.
Staying in low-density content is the biggest one, since the whole route depends on Maggot XP volume. Pushing difficulty before your clear speed can handle it is the second - a fast Hard run beats a slow Penitent one. The third is ignoring gear during Helltide breaks: you don't need a perfect setup, but salvaging, equipping upgrades, and buying strong vendor pieces during downtime adds up over a full session.
